The SBM04/16H is designed for a simple protection of the 12V battery packs using the 3.2V LFP cells.
The SBM has higher rating resistors (bigger ones) so that the balancing current is little bigger. For even higher balancing currents we suggest adding the CBM1 module or modules. The examples of the installation are here: 12V battery, 24V battery, 48V battery.

If you want use regeneration of energy, we recomend to you compose own accumulator. For example from LiFePO4 cells.
The set EVBIKE WHEELKIT is programmable and allowes you set several degrees of force energy of regeneration. This setting you can find in DETAIL MANUAL for LCD display. You can activate regeneration when you briefly press braking levers.

Switch brake levers are for fast stop motor during abrupt braking.
The EVBIKE WHEEL KIT set have longer overrun of motor, is necessary to use switch brake lever for accepting law. In EVBIKE CENTRAL KIT is not necessary instal switch brake levers, because when you stop pedaling, motor automatically stop working during few milliseconds. Freewheel not affect a braking parameters of bike. This set is suitable for bikes with hydraulic disc brakes. You can use the unutilized conector of braking levers for connect for example GEARSENZOR.
The law requirements in the EU countries are different.
Here is one EPAC standard for EU countries which is define the electro bicycles – 250W and 25 km/h. But some countries has some differences in their local standards. For example in Czech country we have for the conversions kits different rules and such powered bike can reach up to 1kW of power.
Our EVBIKE kit does meet this requirements due the full programable controler.

So you could set up the power, speed, accelerator mode and so on. Anyway, We don´t know your national requirements for electric ebike kits. If there any possibility to increase power, as we have in Czech. This is up to you the learn your national law.
I read in the doc that the fitting of a rear wheel is not recommended for 8 gears and more, but most of modern mountain bikes are equiped.
I guess this is a problem of space. Can you tell me the space needed for mounting on the rear wheel?

Even though rear wheel drive conversion may seem more complex and not that fast as a front wheel drive, it has some advantages:
See picture bellow where you can see nine speed freewheel (it is not EVBike motor however the dimensions are the agree). You may need to use a washer to make a distance between freewheel and motor bigger (in case the chain interferes with motor). Another washer might be needed for the other side of the freewheel (in case the chain interferes with rear fork). These washers may higher the standard dropout 135mm a bit however it is not a problem in most cases.
Also please note that you must use a freewhell with thread, not cassete type!

Test at your risk: you can make additional hardware changes in the controller to get some of the requested functions: regenerative braking, reverse drive, electric brake. See the information file here (PDF).
Note: this kind of modification will end the warranty provided by the manufacturer.

FAQ: What is the exact technical specification of the hub motors in the EVBike kits?
Answer: We are using the Nice Continent motors: FRONT model 205B-27-7x9 with M12 axle, REAR model 205B-27-7x9 with M14 axle.
A connection of the 2-pin, 3-pin, 4-pin and 5-pin connectors used in e-bikes.
FAQ: How to set/remove the speed limit for the EVBIKE kit?
Answer: The speed limit is managed by the controller. The speed lowering loop wire connector (see picture) allows to turn on/off the speed limit function.
Note: the speed limit is mandatory for EU countries when driving on public roads.
FAQ: Can you also deliver different sizes of the rims with EVBIKE hub motors?
Answer: as of July 2010, we deliver only the 26" size of the wheel. The reason is that the 26" is the most demanded model and we can offer a better price with volume orders. Please check our offer of the EVBIKE components here.
Additionally, please note that due to the volume discounts, the price of the motor with rim 26’’ is basically the same as the price of the motor/hub alone. This is also the reason why we do not offer the motor/hub alone.
If you need a different size of the rim, or you wish to use your preferred brand of the rim, just remove motor from the 26" wheel, and then get spokes into another dimension of the rim. If customers want to use high-quality (brand rim), rim or other sizes than 26", then the best option is get spokes into to the desired rim.
