The value of the internal resistance
Question: In your promotional materials you mention several times that the internal resistance of the LTO cells is “very low”, “lower than for the LFP cells”, is “only 1 mOhm and less”. However we have tested the internal resistance and the value is more than 20 mOhm. We think your information is not correct.
First, note that the internal resistance of the cell is not a constant value. The internal resistance increases when the cell is fully charged and also increases when the cell is getting discharged. To measure the internal resistance for reference value, you should measure within DOD of 80% to 20%. This means after you charge the cell to full, you let the cell discharge to 80% first and only after that you perform the tests....more >>

Yes, enter the identification codes of all your microinverters placed on the label on the bottom of the microinverter after you will installed the ECU monitoring gateway. The gateway will communicates with all microinverters on all phases.
Can I plug the Microinverter directly into the socket or will I need special connector for that?
The plug to your domestic grid must be corresponding with standarts of your Country. You can buy these connectors in common electrical supplies. Proper connection of the plug and wires can make everyone.

Question: What is the purpose of the eGate? Must I use it?
1) For commercials installations when the energy is delivered to the public grid the eGate must be installed so that the installation meets the standards of the grid operators.
2) For small installations (only few MicroInverters) – when all the energy is self-consumed (in the GridFree mode) and not delivered to the grid – it may not be necessary to use the gateway. However we always recommend applying all possible safety and protection solutions.

Question: Why do you recommend to use a 250Wp or even 280Wp solar panel with the MicroInverter, that has only 230W AC output power?
Answer: The solar panel specification (250Wp or 280Wp) is the peak power at the ideal condition of direct sunshine at 1000W/m2. On most installations this ideal condition will be present only few days in a year. Most of the time, the sunshine condition of the installation is worse than the theoretical maximum. That is why it is better to use a large size panel to utilize all power available from the MicroInverter.
The MicroInverter works at the MPPT mode and it will draw only the maximal power up to its own maximal power specification. This means that during the sunshine peaks the inverter takes only the energy it can process up to its hardware limits.
Hint: in winter times it may be even possible to join together two (even three) solar panels (of the same specifications) in parallel to increase the real yield from the installation during the short and cloudy winter days....more >>

Micro-Inverter – More Power from the Sun
Ordinary solar installation with central inverter works with serial strings of many panels. The total power is based on the performance of the whole string.
There is only 1x MPPT (maximal power point tracking) for the whole string. If the performance of the panels differs, the weakest panel will decide the total MPPT of the whole string.

MPPT is done for every panel. This brings maximal possible power from each single panel. The total performance of the solar installation will increase.

The Micro-Inverter Safety and Operation FAQs
Q: Can the Micro-Inverter work in off-grid mode (island mode)?
Answer: No. The Micro-Inverter is designed only as the grid-tied (or on-grid) inverter. It works simultaneously (in harmony) with the 230V AC grid.
Q: How will the Micro-Inverter behave when the grid is down?
Answer: If the AC grid is turned off, perhaps because of fuse is blown, or there is some repair on the cables, the Micro-Inverter will shutdown immediately. This shutdown function is one of the parameters certified by EU standards for electric safety.
The shut-down function means the Micro-Inverter does not produce any electricity when the grid is turned off, even if the solar panels are at full sunshine.
The Micro-Inverter has the anti-islanding function and will not work without the AC grid voltage supplied.

GridFree technology to reduce your energy demands

Standard PV invertors do not allow any power regulation. These inverters are
ALWAYS feeding the grid with ALL the energy they receive from the panels. No way to regulate the output power.
Micro-Inverter installation allows the energy management with simple AC relay switch-box. Based on the energy demand, the AC relay switch box is turning on or off the individual strings (or units) of Micro-Inverters. This way the the energy production is regulated quite exactly. The starting time of the Micro-Inverters is just in seconds, so it can fastly follow the actual demand.
Minimal regulation steps may be as low as 50W. The regulation of the energy may be carried out this way: 50W —- 50W + 50W —- 100W + 50W —- 100W + 100W —- 250W —- 250W + 50W —- etc. etc

With Micro-Inverter it is easy to make even very small installations. You can have a solar project with just ONE solar panel. This is not possible with the ordinary central inverters that usually have 1.5 kW or more power.
Now you can start from just one panel. This is the ideal solution for the GridFree projects.
GridFree means that you generate a part of the energy directly on your own and you reduce the consumption from the grid. The more you generate the less you need to take from the grid. The less you take from the grid, the less you pay to the grid-operator (utility company). The money that you save this way is your profit from the GridFree installation.

mFi - monitoring your AC power anywhere
This graph shows the mFi monitoring the power consumption of a small computer cabinet. This cabinet contains the “core communication technology” of a small business company: the central server, netwoking switches, VoIP gateway, etc. The mimal consumption is always around 1.6 Amp making it at least some 270W of the non-stop energy demand from the 230V AC grid. The daily power comsumption is about 6.5 KWh, and per year it makes 2.372 MWh of energy.
In order to cut the costs down all unimportant devices were removed and the remaining devices were checked for energy optimisation. There seems to be no way to reduce the energy consumption of this computer cabinet.
Stay-tuned for details how the GridFree solution can cut the energy consumption down by just one simple “plug-in” to the AC socket.

At peak sunshine hours one solar panel size 2x1 meter produces 200Wh of clean energy to feed the AC grid. With pricing of EUR0.20 per kWh, the panel generates EUR0.04 per hour.
