Simple Digital Voltmeter (range 0 - 30V)
The voltmeter allows to measure Voltage from 0 to 30V. For the measurement under 4V requires an external power supply (in range 5 V - 30 V). See the operation manual for examples.
How to use:
1) The red wire connect to the (+) battery terminal
2) The black wire connect to the (-) battery terminal
3) The blue wire voltage measure the voltage on (+) battery terminal, or cell (+)
Proper Fusing is Vital for LFP Safety
We remind all customers to apply proper fusing for any DC power installations. The fusing and/or DC circuit brakers will limit the risks of serious accidents in case of battery DC short-circuit.
Depth of discharge (DOD)
All battery manufacturers recommend to keep the Depth of Discharge (DOD) bellow the maximal limit of 100%. Ideally 80% DOD or less is recommended. The rule is quite simple: the smaller DOD the larger number of cycles. With 50% DOD the LiFePO4 cells may have well above 5000 cycles. However it is imporatnt to keep the DOD at the cetral part of the capacity range. If the DOD is not in the center of the capacity range, the cell performace may degrade faster.
As a matter of fact, since it is better to avoid deep cycle discharging, it seems to be better to charge as frequently as possible. It is better to “charge (to full)and drive” rather than “drive and charge (from null)”.
How to connect two 12V batteries with PCM in series
The connection of the batteries with the 12V PCM is the same as the connection of any other batteries. Some additional things need to be observed: before the assembly of the pack in series, first charge individually each of the batteries to full. Observe the voltage levels for the discharge of the batteries. The batteries should not be discharged to too low voltage levels. It is recommended to stop discharging at 11.5V or 11.8V per battery in the pack. This means to stop discharging at 23V for a pack of 2 cells in series.
From time to time it may be necessary to have the batteries charged individually to the full. That is why it may be good to have the cabling to each battery ready to allow the charging of individual battery in the pack.

FAQ: How to connect the small cylindrical cells together?
Answer: First never try to solder the contact to these cells. You are sure to damage the cell by over heating. Any temperature above 70*C is damaging to the cells! Without professional soldering equipment it is not possible to make the connection.
We suggest using the round-cell battery holders. The holders for big „D“ size cells can fit some of the cell. The contacts for the holders for the lithium cells can be purchased form a local electronics shop (check the as an example).

FAQ: Charging individual cells using the regulated (laboratory) power supply
Many of the laboratory power supplies allow charging of the individual cells. Using such a regulated power supply is a suitable method for performing the initial charging or for the balancing of a single cell in a battery pack (by means of charging to a fixed voltage level).
There are usually 3 steps to follow: 1) set the target voltage (open voltage) – without the connection of the battery (3.65 at the picture), 2) start charging and set the current to be used (3.0 A at the picture), 3) when the charger reaches the target voltage – it usually starts to reduce the charging current until a low value. (3.66 V reached at 0.04A). It is a time to stop charging and disconnecting the charger.
