The GridFree inverters for the energy solutions
The 1000W and 2000W GridFree Smart inverters for energy self-generation.
Size of the frame (white stripe at the perimeter) is 14mm on the shorter side and 28mm on the longer side.
There is a basic important question: The solar energy from the panels will be used to sell to the grid? Or it will be used for own consumption?
If this is the case of sales of energy to the grid or its own consumption reduction, it is necessary to know that if 4kW is peak power value of solar panels, then it is highly probable that most of the time power will be significantly less. It strongly depends on sunlight specific conditions. If customer want to connect two solar panels to one microinverter, must take in advance that it is possible and will not damage the microinverter. It also depends on size of the panels and actual sunlight conditions. One microinverter can supply up to 250W power. If customer expect more from panel (or more panels if will connect them to one microinverter), than it would be wise to buy more microinverter to avoid that some power will be left unused.

Small Solar Installtions - From an Idea to a Reality
Our customers come up with many ideas where to locate solar panels:
Hole in the building. This hole makes some sound when wind is blowing. (The architect was likely a deaf man.) The idea is to cover this hole - to block the wind and to get some solar yield.
The solar wall. Many building have walls that face the sun. It is easy to place the panels on such walls.
Solar panel shading. In summer the sun is shining inside the buildings. Try placing the panels on the top part of the windows to block the sunshine and get some free energy.

Question: Why do you recommend to use a 250Wp or even 280Wp solar panel with the MicroInverter, that has only 230W AC output power?
Answer: The solar panel specification (250Wp or 280Wp) is the peak power at the ideal condition of direct sunshine at 1000W/m2. On most installations this ideal condition will be present only few days in a year. Most of the time, the sunshine condition of the installation is worse than the theoretical maximum. That is why it is better to use a large size panel to utilize all power available from the MicroInverter.
The MicroInverter works at the MPPT mode and it will draw only the maximal power up to its own maximal power specification. This means that during the sunshine peaks the inverter takes only the energy it can process up to its hardware limits.
Hint: in winter times it may be even possible to join together two (even three) solar panels (of the same specifications) in parallel to increase the real yield from the installation during the short and cloudy winter days....more >>
The Micro-Inverter Safety and Operation FAQs
Q: Can the Micro-Inverter work in off-grid mode (island mode)?
Answer: No. The Micro-Inverter is designed only as the grid-tied (or on-grid) inverter. It works simultaneously (in harmony) with the 230V AC grid.
Q: How will the Micro-Inverter behave when the grid is down?
Answer: If the AC grid is turned off, perhaps because of fuse is blown, or there is some repair on the cables, the Micro-Inverter will shutdown immediately. This shutdown function is one of the parameters certified by EU standards for electric safety.
The shut-down function means the Micro-Inverter does not produce any electricity when the grid is turned off, even if the solar panels are at full sunshine.
The Micro-Inverter has the anti-islanding function and will not work without the AC grid voltage supplied.

Harvesting the power of the sun
We have set up a new configuration to test the solar charging of LFP batteries. Two solar panels (217Wp each) are in a serial string to charge a 48V/90Ah battery pack made of 4 pcs of LP12V 90AH batteries.
During a sunny day in October, we are able to gain more than 2 kWh of energy from the 2 panels. (38Ah at 53V = 2kWh)
Our tests have a multiple purpose: to test the solar charging, to examine different solar controllers, to study the charging of the LFP batteries and finally to make a working solution to disconnect from the grid for ever....more >>
Using solar chargers to harvest solar power
We are testing different solar chargers to see their performance with the LFP battery packs. Here is the summary of our tests:
Figure 1 - shows the initial charging of a completely empty 48V/20AH LFP battery pack. We were able to charge 25Ah of power. We are using two 217Wp solar panels in series. They provide the peak of 350W.
Figure 2 - shows the discharge of the 48V/20AH LFP battery pack until the low voltage level of 44.4V is reached. The discharge with is a resistive load, so the current changes at the beginning and decreases as the heat spiral warms up.

EVTraxer with a “solar roof”
In a summer mid-cloudy day, one standard 220Wp panel provides about 150W of charging power. During a day it can charge up to 1kWh of energy. It is about 10km to 12km of driving range of a light-weight vehicle based on the EVTraxer platform.
