Grid-Tied Energy Storage Solution 

Check the details of the demonstration installation of the fully modular energy storage solution. See the specifications of the individual components:

(1) Battery pack – consists of 8 cells to work at the nominal voltage of 24V DC. The capacity of the battery pack is fully modular, based on the size of the cells. For example: 8x 40AH cells make an estimated capacity of 860Wh (0.9 kWh), 8x 100AH cells make approx 2.16 kWh storage, 8x 400AH cells make some 8.64 kWh of energy.

(2a to 2d) Battery management system (BMS) – monitors and protects the battery pack against undesirable situations. The components of the BMS: the cell modules located on top of each of the cells (2a), BMS Main controller – the master unit (2b), the DC latch relay contactor (2c), suitable up to 60 Amp (up to 1.5kW power systems). For higher current ratings, we suggest to have additional power rated DC contactors to connect the charger and/or the load to the battery pack.   The DC current sensor (2d) to provide current measuring for the BMS main controller unit. 

(3) The AC/DC charger with communication to the BMS – the charger is designed to charge the pack from the grid. The power rating of the charger determines the charging current and the charging speed. 

(4) The DC/AC micro-inverter with a battery support. The DC/AC micro-inverter is converting the energy stored at the battery pack back to the AC power to be used together with the grid at the local distribution place. It is possible to install multiple DC/AC inverters to increase the power rating of the energy storage solution.

This solution is based on components that were approved for the DC/AC grid operation and allow making an energy storage projects that fully meet the related standards.
